A little update & some beauty purchases.

I have been very quite since coming back from holiday, not intentionally but I've had a lot on my plate.  We have found a place (renting) and have put a holding deposit down.  We now have to have checks done on us and although neither of us have anything against us, I am still really apprehensive about it all. If we were to fail, we lose the holding deposit...  We are going in tomorrow with all the paperwork and should know in a few days, so fingers crossed. It is well beyond the point of needing to move out of where we currently are.
I had some time to kill in town this afternoon and decided a little retail therapy was in order.  Only a little bit mind you, we are (fingers crossed!) going to be moving soon.
First stop was to Nero (yes, the coffee shop!) to buy Kate McGill's album 'Replaced' - it even came with a complimentary coffee!  Some of you may well recognise her name from You Tube.  She started doing covers on You Tube and 4 years later she's released her debut album - her own tracks, not covers.  If you like your music acoustic, heartfelt and genuine she will definitely appeal - think Ellie Goulding-esque.  No doubt I'll be featuring it over on These Are Sounds some time in the near future.
Kate McGill - Replaced
After my complimentary latte I decided to head to Superdrug and see what bargains they had going. I didn't need anything but Superdrug's offers are usually so good it's worth checking them out.  Incidentally, all my purchases ended up being part of 1/2 price offers, so all the prices I've listed are half the full price.  Not sure how long the offer is on for but a lot of their skincare is currently half price (including the awesome Kleenex stuff I raved about!) - in my opinion, much better than Boots 3 for 2 on skincare that they are currently running!
Superdrug Haul - Ooh La Spa and Garnier
Ooh La Spa - Smooth It Up - Body Scrub - £2.49     -     Garnier - Fresh Essentials - Face Scrub - £2.01
I love my body scrubs. My favourite has to be Garnier's Body Tonic scrub, but at around £7-£8 a time I prefer to get it when it's on offer.  I decided to try a new one, I've not heard of Ooh La Spa before but they appear to be a range that (as their name suggests!) allows you to have your own mini spa experience at home.  The scrub contains some awesome ingredients and scents such as Vanilla, Patchouli and Bergamot. It smells yum and hopefully it works!
I really like Garnier's Fresh Essential's range.  Cheap and cheerful skincare.  Not ground breaking or revolutionary, but skincare that just works.  I've not tried the scrub before so for a couple of quid I thought I'd give it a go.
Superdrug Haul - Naked and Nivea Visage
Naked Skin - Blinking Lovely - Eye Make-up Remover - £2.24     -     Nivea Visage - Pure & Natural - Toner - £1.64
I've yet to try any of the Naked Skin range and running low on eye make up remover I decided to give their 'Blinking Lovely' eye make-up remover a go.  I like their bodycare range so am hoping their skincare will live up to my expectations.  I have a track record of not getting on well with eye products (my eyes are so easily irritated!) - we shall see!
I like the Nivea Visage range, it's simple but effective.  At £1.64 and having recently finished a toner I thought it would be rude not to buy one.  It smells gorgeous and contains organic and natural ingredients - and no parabens or nasties!
Cherry Carmex and Boots 17 Hide & Chic
Carmex - Cherry Lip Balm - £1.27     -     Boots 17 - Hide & Chic - Under Eye Concealer - £2.49
I haven't tried the cherry Carmex before.  I love the regular one and often buy it in tube form.  I thought I would give the cherry one a whirl and try it in the pot form, for a change.  It tastes so yummy...
Obviously, the concealer wasn't from Superdrug!  I popped into Boots, the one where I currently live is pretty crap and has a very limited range.  I checked the Advantage Card kiosk for any good deals and I had a voucher to get the Boots 17 Hide & Chic (their version of YSL's Touche Éclat)for half price (originally £4.99) so thought I'd give it a try, all in the name of beauty blogging, of course!  First impressions are quite good, the colour (I went for 'Light Rose') seems pretty good and not orangey like others I have tried in the past.  It seem to be really easy to blend but a full review will come once I have had a good chance to trial it.
So, hope that wasn't too boring for you!  I haven't done a post like this for such a long time, I quite enjoyed it. Let me know if you did!  And keep those digits crossed that by this time next month we will be settled in our own place.
