I'm going to be coming home tomorrow, I really hope I've had a nice and not too cold or rainy week... Last, but by no means least, Stacie from Dainty Bits gives us some of her best beauty tips and tricks - they are great so be sure to read on!
Hello :)
The lovely Rebecca has given me the honour of being a guest blogger today! I’m Stacie and I blog over at Dainty Bits.
Today’s post is going to focus on some brilliant tips & tricks I have found over the years! I love reading what sorts of things other people do to beauty wise, or other silly things that make you think ‘‘why didn’t I do this before!’’
Aspirin Mask.
An Aspirin mask may sound a bit weird at first, but trust me here. You can pick up a pack of Aspirin for as little as 15p, don’t worry about buying the most expensive pack you can find in Boots because honestly, they are all the same thing! A pack that cost’s more than your meal deal will be just as good as the 15p ones.
All your going to need to add is lukewarm water, when made, the mask is going to act as an exfoliator as well as a cleansing, healing facemask. It’s an amazing alternative to your usual face wash or face mask, and can be a lifesaver when you’ve run out of cleansers!
If you have an allergy to Aspirin, no matter how small, obviously do not use this mask, your body will absorb the Aspirin the same as if you were to orally take the pills.
So what exactly is slopping Aspirin on my face going to help my skin I hear you ask.. Well, here’s the sciencey stuff. Aspirin is technically acetylsalicylic acid, which is chemically similar to salicylic acid, the common ingredient in many skincare products. Salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid, exfoliates the skin, and it is able to break through into pores to help keep them clean. Because aspirin is an anti-inflammatory it can help with red and inflamed spots too!
So onto making your Aspirin mask, you will need
- Something to mix the ‘ingredients’ together (a small bowl is fine)
- 3 Aspirin tablets (make sure you buy Uncoated Aspirin!)
- Lukewarm water
- A spoon to mix
And you can also add some Honey or Natural Yoghurt to the mix if you fancy!
Start off by breaking up the Aspirin, add 2 tablespoons of water to begin with, and give it a good stir. You want to end up with a kind of paste, which looks like this:
Then simply apply it onto your face; the mixture is gritty and rough, so be gentle! Leave the mask on for up to 10 minutes, wash it off with lukewarm water.
Combat Dry skin, in the Bath!
Every girl loves a relaxing bath, but if your like me and you step out as dry as a bone, try out this handy little tip the next time you run your bath!

Add ten drops of Rose Oil under warm running water. You can always add some rose petals for a bit of luxury. Rose oil hydrates skin, smells nice, it also helps prevent spider veins and helps scars fade away too!
Apparently adding baking soda helps moisturise your skin, but I think Rose oil is much nicer!
How to make your Nail Varnish Last!
Not so long ago I treated myself to an expensive Nail Varnish (I won’t name & shame!) and after a few months it started to go a bit gloopy and the application was terrible, and I was so upset that I’d spent quite a bit of money to only use it a handful of times before it went ‘off’.

Thankfully, I found a couple of ways to help make it last!
1. Keep polish in a cool, dry place. Nail polish is most affected by heat.
2. Keep a tight lid on the bottle. This may seem obvious; ensuring your polish is fully sealed can go a long away in extending its life.
3. Store bottles in an upright position. Bottles that are kept on their sides (or even upside down) can discolour more easily because it's harder to shake the pigments together.
If like me it was too late, and the nail varnish has lost its mojo, add a drop of nail varnish remover to the pot and give it a good shake, & it should make the application much smoother!
I hope you enjoyed reading my Tips & Tricks!

Lovely tips! I might try one of those aspirin masks, they're cheap enough to give it a whirl aren't they? x
ReplyDeleteNice! I'd just add that if you can, buy a bottle of proper nail polish thinner off eBay - it's dead cheap and not as bad for your nails as adding remover to the polish!
ReplyDeleteWow I'm loving these tips, I mentioned the aspirin mask on my own blog www.mybignetwork.uk.com
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed my post! :) x
